I came up on Saratoga’s West Side, a block off the track, and every August I was lugging trunks and tack for the racing meet before I was even old enough to drive. I learned exactly how heavy a couch gets coming down a steep Broadway staircase years before I ran anything resembling an office. When I launched Haul of Fame Movers in 2014, the aim was simple: a careful local crew that actually shows, hands you one honest flat rate, and treats your moving day like it counts — from Saratoga Springs to Wilton, Ballston Spa and Malta.

Before I struck out on my own I was loading trucks and running lanes for a regional van line, so I watched the messy side firsthand — people slapped with charges nobody mentioned, furniture rolling off the ramp already scratched, and crews who disappeared the instant the doors shut. Add in real upstate winters — deep snow, ice storms, sub-zero stretches, and freeze-thaw chewing up old East Side stairs that pays no mind to your closing date — and I was sure there was a better way to do this.

So Haul of Fame Movers got built around everything those families went without: a flat rate written down before we start, our own W-2 crew on every job and never a subcontractor, heated climate-controlled storage to bridge the gap between legs of a move, and a real person who picks up the phone and stands behind how it all turns out. Most days that person is me or Diane.

I still lay out the schedule with my own hand. The figure we quote is the figure you settle, and the crew you were promised is the one standing on your porch.
