House Moving Across Saratoga Springs and Saratoga County

A house demands more of a crew than any apartment ever could, and that’s the whole thing Pete Halloran’s crew prepares for. Picture the garage stacked end to end, the basement and mudroom holding all the gear that never climbed back upstairs, a backyard shed loaded with tools and off-season equipment, and bedrooms parked two flights up a slim Victorian stair. We roll in with a truck scaled to your actual house, W-2 hands who live in this work, and a written room-by-room plan drawn before a single box leaves. To Pete and the crew, your household is the one job on the board that day, because that’s how a straight-shooting hometown company earns its keep.

What Move Day Looks Like

The crew kicks off with a room-by-room tour alongside you so nothing gets overlooked. We single out the awkward, weighty stuff straight away: the long sectional, the loaded china cabinet, the king bed, a gun safe, the marble-top dresser. Anything bolted or modular comes apart, travels swaddled in quilted blankets, and goes back together at the destination. Fragile items disappear under shrink film before they budge. Your closet rides standing and still on its hangers in wardrobe boxes, so unpacking it takes minutes instead of swallowing your evening.

When a house climbs to four bedrooms or beyond, we add crew and roll a second truck, the better to finish before early winter dark or a snow band drifting in off the Adirondacks. Plan on roughly four to eight hours for a typical Saratoga County house move, with the exact count riding on size, layout, and distance. Naturally, a two-story East Side Victorian and its steep period stairs eat more time than a one-level Wilton ranch, and that gap is already priced into the flat written figure you saw going in. No meter ever spins up against you partway through the day.

The Saratoga Homes We Load Most

We know the local housing because our crew was raised inside it. Downtown Broadway and the East Side throw narrow, steep Victorian stairs and historic homes that put any mover to the test. The West Side and Geyser Crest serve up trim bungalows, while Ballston Spa contributes village two-families with their tight interior stairs. Flip to the newer HOA builds in Wilton, Malta, and Round Lake, where broad driveways and attached garages speed the day right up. The Greenfield, Stillwater, and Gansevoort ranches, colonials, and split-levels make up the everyday bulk of our work. Downtown condos and converted lofts, meanwhile, hand off the specialty work that calls for a careful touch: a baby grand or upright piano, a safe that needs rigging, an heirloom hutch with glass doors.

What a House Move Costs

Once we inventory the home, on-site or by video, you walk away with a single flat written price. There’s no hourly meter, nothing tacked on for fuel, and no stair fee waiting to ambush you at the end. That price already carries the crew, the truck, the fuel, the pads and shrink wrap, and the routine take-apart and rebuild. A studio or one-bedroom opens near $420 to $700, and a four-bedroom with the garage, basement, and shed all loaded climbs toward $4,980. Pete reads the whole picture before he commits to a number: how snow and ice will shape access through an upstate winter, the steep East Side stairwells, parking during the August meet, the county gate clearance, and the downtown condo COI. The figure he writes on the contract is the figure you pay.

Part of the deal

Everything that comes baked into this job

  • A full room-by-room tour before the first item is loaded

  • Quilted pads, shrink wrap, and floor runners on every job

  • Beds taken apart at the old house and rebuilt at the new

  • Wardrobe boxes that keep clothes on the hanger and unpack quick

  • Stair carries on multi-story and old-stair homes built into the flat price

  • Garage, basement, and shed contents loaded and secured along with everything else

  • One flat written price, no hourly shocks lurking at the finish

The Haul of Fame crews are always courteous and professional. When my cat escaped during a recent job, they made extra efforts to look for her and to check in with me until she was back. Great guys.

Joe and the other mover was absolutely phenomenal during my apartment move! He was thorough, kind, and handled everything with such care. Moving can be so stressful, but Joe made the whole process smooth and easy. I'm so grateful for his help and would recommend him to anyone! Thank you again.

Good questions to ask

The stuff people usually want cleared up first

How long does a house move run in Saratoga County?
Two- and three-bedroom homes mostly land around four to six hours, while a four-bedroom or a two-story house tends to fall in the six-to-eight-hour band. Through the cold months we shape the day so loading and unloading beat early winter dark or an oncoming snow band, and a steep older Victorian with narrow stairs adds time we've already built into your flat price.
Do you clear the garage and shed too?
We do. The crew empties the garage, the basement and mudroom, the backyard shed, and any workshop right alongside the house. The lone exception is hazardous material: gasoline, propane, and paint thinner can't ride a moving truck, so those go in your own vehicle.
Can you handle heavy furniture and a safe?
Day in, day out for us. Dressers, king beds, dining tables, and sectionals travel on dollies, straps, and proper rigging, and a gun safe is more of the same. Modular furniture, cribs, and beds come apart and rebuild at the new place at no hidden cost. Pianos price out on their own and plainly: an upright is $320 to $490, a baby grand $580 to $900.
My place has steep stairs and several floors. Trouble?
None at all. The stair carry already sits in your flat price, and we run runners over carpet and hardwood to guard each tread. The crew stages the heaviest pieces by the stairwell first and keeps a steady rhythm. We've worked the tight, freeze-thaw stairwells of the downtown Broadway and East Side Victorians plenty and move through them with care.
Are weekend moves an option?
We work Monday through Saturday, and Saturdays go first, especially across the busy summer and the racing season, so booking early pays off. Sundays are available on request for an added fee.
